The Stage Door Canteen
The Combined Services RSL, or "Barracks" as it is also known, serves up drink and tucker for your gullet pleasure. No fancy pants la-dee-da bollocks here (apart from the digital sign-in process), much like this review.

Man Cave ticking all the boxes?
Buried under the Menzies Hotel alongside Wynyard Station, there is a forgotten cave of sorta-treasures. A man-cave. But does it tick all the boxes?

"Under the Bridge In Town"
If the Red Hot Chili Peppers had been in Sydney at the beginning of the 90's, Their 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' album, and more specifically, the second single from that album, 'Under The Bridge', might have been a bit different. It may have been more about beers, burgers and good times than about loneliness and drug use. The Harbour View Hotel is indeed Under The Bridge and it does happen to share a few other details with the RHCP song. Grab a beer and read on...

"Ashfield. Yeah, that's where it is."

"Would you smile at a crocodile?"
Following the visit to Strathfield Hotel, Bot and Bogs decided to get a quick sample in of a nearby Ashfield pub. Here's where they landed, briefly, before moving on to the Ashfield Hotel. They didn't like The Croc. What the crap is a crocodile farm doing in Ashfield anyway?

"All trains lead to Strathfield"
Just a hop, skip and a stumble away from Strathfield Train Station is where you'll find Whelan's Strathfield Hotel, apparently a family business for over 90 years. The Hotel was built just after World War I, although you wont find much of the original interior, with the establishment taking on a fairly large overhaul roughly 5 years ago.

"A local's pub for the locals"
This pub oozes the smell of beers gone by and has the taste of a bit of harmless grit and grime of the Redfern backstreets. Some would call it home. Others wont call it at all. It's not a castle as such but it probably has been home to someone called Glen and probably even a Garry. Not necessarily at the same time but it certainly is possible.
