Crocodile Farm Hotel, Ashfield

Reviewers present (briefly): Bot & Blogs
Time of stop in: Thursday night

"Would you smile at a crocodile?"

Following the visit to Strathfield Hotel, Bot and Bogs decided to get a quick sample in of a nearby Ashfield pub. Here's where they landed, briefly, before moving on to the Ashfield Hotel. They didn't like The Croc. What the crap is a crocodile farm doing in Ashfield anyway?

"All trains lead to Strathfield"

Just a hop, skip and a stumble away from Strathfield Train Station is where you'll find Whelan's Strathfield Hotel, apparently a family business for over 90 years. The Hotel was built just after World War I, although you wont find much of the original interior, with the establishment taking on a fairly large overhaul roughly 5 years ago.

Glengarry Castle Hotel, Redfern

182 Lawson Street, Redfern
Reviewers present: Burger Bot & Joe Blogs
Time of Review: Wednesday night roady

"A local's pub for the locals"

This pub oozes the smell of beers gone by and has the taste of a bit of harmless grit and grime of the Redfern backstreets. Some would call it home. Others wont call it at all. It's not a castle as such but it probably has been home to someone called Glen and probably even a Garry. Not necessarily at the same time but it certainly is possible.

Royal Hotel, Darlington

370 Abercrombie St, Darlington

"Royal by name but not royal by price!"

Looking for a cheapish pub feed in the Redfern, Eveleigh, Waterloo, Newtown, Broadway, Ultimo, Darlington area? One where you don't feel crowded in by swarms of cool kids? Feel like a $9 steak and $9 jug of beer? How about here at The Royal on Abercrombie in Darlington, tucked away between the University of Sydney and the train line between Redfern and Macdonaldtown stations! Bingo!

I had heard of The Valve Bar & Venue and passed it a number of times in the car driving along Princes Highway but I hadn't had a reason to check it out .... 'til now. And I'm glad I did.

Orient Hotel, The Rocks

89 George Street, The Rocks, Sydney
Sydney Pub List reviewers: Bot & Blogs
Review time: Lunch

"It serves beer and other things"

The Orient Hotel is a pub and it is made of bricks. The other little pigs built their pub of straw and sticks and now those pubs are gone. One of the sizier-looking pubs of the area, standing on the corner of George and Argyle Streets, The Orient demands some attention from passers-by.
