"Get some brill in your grill!"

Vital statistics
Carlton Draught: $4.80
Burger rating: 5 star 80's pub burger, sub-$10
Crowd: Locals, old lads and diggers. no jerks
Bar staff: friendly

You always know what you're going to get at The Captain Cook (not to be confused with The Captain Cook of Paddington, we'll come to that one later) and it has all you need.  For locals of the area (Millers Point/Walsh Bay) it's a good cheap feed and tipple-point. At a nice 6 minute and 47 second walk along Kent Street (for us) it's the perfect place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD. Brill!

The staff are friendly and the food is quick, being served out of an open kitchen staffed by two lovely ladies. Either pull up at a high table in the front or a dining table up the back with views of Kent Street and clothesline-framed Jones Bay. A few TVs provide some audio-visual stimulation for those awkward silent moments between colleagues.

For Sale: 1 Head, slightly used, requires arms and legs to complete set. A must have!

Today we slurped on Carlton and Resches Draught beers for $4.80 (brill price!). Other tap beers include Blonde, VB, Asahi and the Yak. For the record, this month's beer of the month was a three-way-whammy of Resches, Carlton and VB for a brill-price of $12/jug. Niiiice.

Burger burger burger!

'The Works' and two 'Plain w/Cheese'
In the food stakes, if you go ordering anything but a beef burger, you're doing it wrong! Their burgers are the brillballs. Only a gug would go and order a schnitzel or calamari from The Capt'n. For around $9, get your mouth around a plain beef burger. Add 50 cents for cheese and a bit more for bacon and up to $10.50 for a beef burger with the lot - beef pattie, cheese, tomato, lettuce, beetroot, bacon and egg. Burger burger burger!

Brill Burger
Above you see the 'beef burger with cheese'. Look at it! Standing there in all it's glory of brillness! There are no lies here. Sesame seed bun encapsulates the simple deliciousness within. Check out the cheese oozing across the beef, all mouth-watery-like, some lettuce for crunch and texture and bonus beetroot rounding out the punch with refreshing beet-balance. Are you hungry?! Nom nom nom. A real ripper here and for under or around $10, depending on your burger style, you can't go wrong!

So, you open your wallet and find not a lot going on. You're in the vacinity of the Capt'n. Do yourself and wallet a favour, get in to the Captain Cook. Humble. Good value. No gugs. Just brillsome.

The back of the Capt'n drinks coasters

    1. The very least you should expect from a spammer is to make any sense at all.
