KB, it's still a pub! Yeah! Take that pubs that aren't pubs! In your pub face!

Yes the KB is "still a pub" according to their signage, and we think that's great. However, it's a pub that we all spend more time walking past than actually stopping in and grabbing a beer. Why is this? Too much competition in the area? Yesteryear charm not cutting it any more?

THE LOCATION

Short walk from Central Station, normally passed on the way to such pubs as the Excelsior, Forresters, Dolphin, Clock, White Horse, etc, etc. Fairly well placed, easy to get to.

STILL A PUB

The "old timey" bar is decked out with hutch bar, tiles and wooden vibes from years gone by, as well as sporting colours of more than one footy code. Use the mirrors above the bar to check your hair. Friendly service man and lady folk serving up tap beers such as IGP ($6.40), Beez Neez, Minimum Chips, Coopers Pale, VB, Pure Blonde, Cascade Light, Bulmers, Draught, & New, to name a few. Burger price point, although not consumed, between 12 and 14 smackers. Pokies and darts available for all your pokies and darts needs. Seating inside and out. A pub!


THOUGHTS

"I like that this place claims it's 'still a pub'; that it stands by being exactly what it is and doesn't need to renovate to fight other pubs to be the latest fad destination. KB's not trying to be a sophisticated bar with neon and marble, not trying to be the Mexican, American, or Whatever-is-in-trend themed pub like the ones we see everywhere in the inner-city suburbs. For me, not the best pub in the world and I wouldn't go out of my way to go there but if I lived near by or I was passing in no hurry, I'd be happy to stop in for a beer." - JB
